The most challenging…
..but also the most rewarding trip! Experience the native forests and National park of Femundsmarka, a wild and stony area with lots of waters on both the Norwegian and Swedish sides of the border. From protected rivers to large, open surfaces.
Femundsmarka is known as the fishing and canoeing eldorado of Norway, yet the national park is challenging as you will need to carry the canoe and equipment passing several wild streaming waters. The carriages are double as you will need to first carry the canoe (40 kg) and second, return to catch the equipment. Most carriages are in stony terrain and some are several kilometers long. For strong men and women!
Start out at Femund Canoe Camp and head north on Femund, or let us arrange transport to Elgå and board the local liner Fæmund II with drop off at Røa. The route up from Lake Femund starts with carrying the canoe for about four kilometers up to Roasten. From there on you alternate between paddling and carrying up the Røa and into Rogen (an incline of 95 meters). When you arrive here you have several possibilities, and we recommend Revsjøen, Styggsjøen back to the river Røa, or northwards via Rødsjøen and on to Kjærringsjøen. Head down again and return to Femund Canoe Camp, either by own force or by boat.
Although challenging, these long distance trips reward you with wonderful views, great sunsets and the feeling of being all alone in the universe.
