Lake Femund (60km from north to south) and Lake Isteren (18km from north to south) are the two largest lakes in the area. Conditions may be rough, yet once the winds calm down you are awarded with the most fantastic views from your own private beach!
Route tip: Start at Femund Canoe Camp and paddle south along the eastern side of Femund. Find the Gløtsund along the southern shore of Gløten towards Rystallbakken, where you go ashore (Warning: the mouth of the river Gløta has strong current and is dangerous for canoers). Trolley or carry the canoe 3km along the main road to Isteren. Now you can enjoy all of Isterens many islands, islets, reefs and beaches!
This trip can be made as a brief weekend trip (if limited time, you may need car transport from Femund Canoe Camp to Isteren), or you can spend two or more weeks visiting every corner of both lakes. In any case, we will tailor your route upon arrival, based on your skills and the ruling weather conditions.
